Welcome and thanks for dropping by.
I'm offering a custom-built Silicon Mechanics SM-316RX server equipped with Hot-Swappable Serial ATA (SATA)drives. The total unformatted capacity of the nine installed drives is 2 TBs. Since there are seven empty drive carriers, there is room to grow using generic SATA drives of your choice.

I acquired this unit as a straight traded for an IBM server and thought I'd use it as a NAS box, which is essentially what it was sold as. I didn't end up using it as my interestes shifted to 1U servers running VMware shortly thereafter. The only difference between how it was built and what I am offering here is that is that does not have the final seven 250GB Drives.

I have installed both Windows 2K3 and RH Linux on this box while I've had it and both seem to have worked fine. Of course I will send it to you with no OS on it and the only test that I will certify is MEMTEST86 which runs fine on this over an extended period of time.
Because of this machine's weight, I'm only willing to deal with sales in the US and Canada.
Again, thanks for dropping by and taking a look and happy bidding!
