Up for sale is a nice HP NetServer LP1000R 1U Rack-Mount Server, model number P1810A. This unit has one Intel Pentium III 1 Ghz processor and is dual-processor capable. There is currently 512 MB of PC133 ECC SDRAM, two 9GB SCSI-interface hard disk drives, a 3-1/2" floppy drive, a CD-ROM drive and a number of other features. A power cord is included in this auction.
The server has two SCSI drives presently in it, each one being a 9GB drive. Both drives work fine. The other internal drive bay is currently unused and has the HP bezel in place. The SCSI interface also allows the connection of an external drive system. Dual Fast Ethernet interfaces on the rear panel are present, along with two USB ports, VGA, Serial Parallel ports and PS/2-style mouse keyboard ports (see photos). A knob on the top of the unit allows it to be slid out of the rack and opened with a simple twist on the knob. Extensive information is present on the top cover regarding connections, wiring of internal devices, front and rear panel diagrams, system board outline and so on. The memory in the system is PC133 ECC (error-correcting) memory for data reliability.
The system includes both sets of rack slides that are mounted on the server’s sides and mounted on the rack; this is compatible with HP’s rack series (and perhaps others as well), allowing it to slide into place easily. The server occupies a 1U rack position.
I have a number of these available if you're interested in more than one unit.
The system has Windows 2003 Server on it. The unit was from a corporate installation and was running in a data center, with a dedicated, filtered A/C system for the equipment in the center. All the fan work fine (and it runs very cool, too). It has all the front bezel cover components and the proper drives in the system. There are no broken pins in any connectors. The machine runs very well, and has been reliable and stable. It was removed when the company purchased new equipment, and is in excellent shape, with no flaws or problems.
The system has the following features:
· Single Pentium III 1 GHz at 133 MHz (Dual processor capable)
· 512 MB PC133 ECC (error correcting) SDRAM; expandable to 4GB of PC133 RAM
· Embedded ATI XL PCI Family Video Card
· Two Integrated HP NetServer Ethernet 10/100TX PCI interfaces
· HP NetRAID-lSi RAID SCSI Controller
· Two 9GB Ultra3 SCSI hard drives, with a third drive bay available
· Additional PCI slot available
· Front Panel LEDs for individual hard disk activity, drive slot status, temperature, power and fan status
· IDE CD-ROM drive
· 3-1/2-inch floppy drive
· Windows 2003 Server Standard preinstalled on one 9 GB Partition
The HP Netserver LP 1000r’s main memory is implemented using four memory slots on the system board and it supports up to 4 GB (1 GB x 4) of memory. The Netserver uses only 3.3V, 168-pin, 133 MHz, buffered, SDRAM DIMMs.
This unit was designed as a true server – it's not simply a converted desktop PC, though it runs various Intel-based Windows flavors (and I have another one running the old Novell Netware 3.2 NOS!). There are many features built-in to this unit to improve throughput that a standard PC just doesn’t have. While it doesn't have to be mounted in a rack to function and can be stood on its side, using a rack allows many of these units to be installed while taking up less space than typical PC tower or desktop cases.
